Chelation IV Therapy
The Chelation IV contains many nutrients and vitamins, but the main active ingredient is Edetate Calcium Disodium EDTA which is the chelating agent. This removes from the body heavy metals, such as mercury and lead. It’s primary focus has been for mercury and lead poisoning, or heavy metal toxicity, which may be found in patients who work in an industrial environment or eat a lot of fish, known to contain mercury. After Chelation IV Therapy, the metals pass harmlessly through your body and are discharged in your urine hours later. Detoxification Chelation Therapy

Detoxification is a very general term which describes removing something which is toxic to the body. There are two types of treatments we consider for detoxification. First would be to remove a very specific, well defined toxin such as lead. The second is more of general purification of your body of nonspecific toxins or overall found practiced in alternative medicine.
The specific toxins which we find may be heavy metals such as:

- Zinc, Magnesium and other necessary minerals at a toxic level
- Other substances found to poison enzymatic processes
Typically, we must arrive at diagnosis by laboratory testing though in some cases by symptoms and a history of toxic exposure as in industrial landscapes such as chemical manufacturing plant. Chelation Therapy
Chelation therapy may be given orally (by a pill) or intravenously, directly into veins. Some of the chelating agents given intravenously such as ETDA will bind with the chelates such as mercury, cobalt, nickel, lead and others. This binding renders these toxins enable to react or interfere in normal body processes. Then after binding, typically these bound toxins are excreted in the urine. Measurements are taken ranging from blood test to urine test.
Chelation Therapy is safe when done in careful manner by a physician and will indeed remove these toxic elements. Yet when not done properly can have severe complications. Take for example chelating agents which remove potassium which is very much required for life and a regular heart rhythm. If your potassium drops too low, you may have a fatal cardiac event. Although rare these complications can be avoided with proper monitoring and chelation treatments.
