The Sculptra Butt Lift is a non invasive buttock augmentation procedure for enhancing the shape, contour and size of the buttocks. This new gluteal enhancing procedure depends on the off label usage of the filler known as Sculptra, which has been used for nearly a decade for facial aesthetic purposes such as loss of volume. Sculptra is an FDA approved dermal filler (poly-L-lactic acid), and there are no regulations against using it for buttock lifting. It has recently gained popularity for adding volume to the butt.
How long does the Sculptra last?
Sculptra can last up to 2 years in most patients. It does take some time for the full results to take effect (approximately 2-3 months time after the treatment). Best results are usually seen 5-6 months after the Sculptra is injected as the Sculptra has had enough time to stimulate collagen growth causing the tissue to volumize. The Sculptra itself dissolves away as your own tissue grows to take its place.
Butt Lifting Options
The options for buttock lifting or augmentation over the years have mainly consisted of: gluteal solid silicone implants, fat transfer (fat grafting) or the less safe and often terrifying use of silicone gels or hydrogels more common in the plastic surgery undergrounds. The reasons for using the Sculptra Butt Lifting procedure is that there is nearly no downtime, no extensive painful recovery, very low risk of infection or rejection of implant, it’s a non-surgical low invasive procedure so there are no risks associated with general anesthetic.
Sculptra Butt Lift Procedure
The treatment is non-surgical / non-invasive, as there are no incisions or general anesthesia necessary. The patient is awake for the entire procedure which can take up to an hour to complete. A local anesthetic injection is used to numb the treatment areas before the Sculptra is injected. After numbing, several Sculptra injections are given with very small needles into the desired areas to be enhanced. The injections are often administered while laying down as well as standing to achieve the best effect. The Sculptra is then massaged to spread it out evenly to avoid clumping or bumpiness.
Depending on the desired effect and how much Sculptra is to be used, a series of injections or treatments may be needed, spaced out over 2-3 week intervals to achieve the full results the patient wants. It should also be noted that it’s not entirely possible to achieve the same profound enhancement with Sculptra as you can with implants. There are limits to how big you can go with Sculptra, but the effects are still considerable and much easier to live with.
